Oncology Super-Speciality Hospital | Radiation Therapy | Nuclear Medicine & Integrated Cancer Care

Located in Surat, Gujarat, Omega Hospital – Comprehensive Cancer Care Center is an advanced regional oncology facility developed under the leadership of Dr.Satyendra Singh. The project spans approximately 1,500 sq.m. built-up area and forms part of a larger healthcare hospital, including a dedicated 50-bed oncology super-speciality unit. The centre integrates radiation oncology, nuclear medicine, surgery, critical care, diagnostics, outpatient consultation, and inpatient care within a compact, vertically organised hospital. The project was completed in 2022.

The client’s vision was to create a comprehensive cancer-care destination in Surat offering advanced treatment in an accessible, efficient, and patient-centric environment. The aim was to integrate the full cancer-care pathway—diagnosis, radiation therapy, surgery, intensive care, and recovery - within a single facility, ensuring continuity of care and reducing inter-hospital transfers.

AMRD’s study and planning approach focused on the complex interdependencies between radiation oncology, nuclear medicine, surgical oncology, critical care, and inpatient services. Emphasis was placed on technical infrastructure for advanced medical equipment, controlled patient circulation, radiation safety requirements, clinical adjacencies, and efficient vertical movement. The planning strategy optimised a compact footprint while maintaining clear functional zoning and operational efficiency.

A key feature of the project is the dedicated radiation therapy bunker housing a 6 MV Halcyon linear accelerator. Designed with strict shielding and technical requirements, the bunker enables advanced radiotherapy to function as a core component of the hospital’s integrated oncology services.

The hospital follows a clear vertical clinical zoning strategy. The ground floor houses radiation oncology with the Halcyon bunker for direct access to high-intensity treatment. The first floor is dedicated to nuclear medicine and advanced imaging, including PET-CT and CT facilities for diagnosis, staging, and treatment planning. The second floor accommodates the surgical and critical-care zone, integrating the operation theatre complex, pre- and post-operative recovery areas, and a six-bed ICU. This arrangement ensures efficient perioperative workflows and seamless patient transfer. The third floor contains inpatient wards with three-sharing rooms for patients requiring continued care and monitoring. The fourth floor includes three oncology OPDs and a dressing room, forming a dedicated outpatient consultation and follow-up zone.

Architecturally and operationally, the project demonstrates efficient organisation of a specialised oncology programme within a compact 1,500 sq.m. footprint. The vertical stacking of radiation therapy, diagnostics, surgery, ICU, inpatient care, and OPD services creates a highly integrated clinical environment with strong functional relationships and streamlined operations.
